My first experience included a rotten watermelon, a mushy cantaloupe and expired yogurts that made me feel ill. The fresh fruits were my fault ( I should have inspected them better as the rotton spots were on the outide!) but I didn't know I needed to make sure the yogurts weren't old. I would expect that at a discount grocery store and would be diligent in looking at dates before I buy but not at regular grocery store. I actually took the time to take two $1 Greek yogurts back to get non-expired ones just for the principal of my wasted purchases. The only problem was that all the yogurts on the shelf were also bad so i reported this to the first checkout. I took my $2 and said to myself I won't be back. It's not worth the hassle. However, a month later I figured I would give them another shot but as I walked in I found a whole new store with rows of alcohol bottles but no cheese. Honestly, we live in Wisconsin and there were only two small blocks of mozzarella cheese and nothing else except processed slices! So I left with nothing and headed to Wautoma. Strike 2. Then a few days ago I so badly wanted to give them another chance after hearing rumors that the store had been restocked. Well, sort of, some areas yes full of food and alcohol ( sure have the alcohol covered and fully faced on each end cap-what are we trying to promote?) but yet last minute frozen pizzas were wiped out and had just a few laying in the bottom of the freezer. To avoid yet another stop I decided to just get those and get home. I grabbed my sugar to make the pumpkin pie and headed to the butter section. Not a single stick of real butter in the store. Wow, Wisconsin proud. I checked out with what I had so my time here was not wasted. So I tried. I headed to Kwik trip for the butter. I also found that the prices for the same sugar and the frozen pizza at kt is actually cheaper than this grocery store. (At this point I feel dumb) Final straw was when I opened the frozen pizza and both of them were broken! Strike 3. So- I vow to never go back to this store again. I have tried. And tried. And tried.
Three strikes and they are out! I will not be going back again. I enjoy shopping locally even when I have known for years that this means I won't be able to always get the products I would prefer. I have used piggly wiggly in Redgranite for years. After the Sentry change things went down hill.
The manager, Dave, is very nice, and works extremely hard to provide a grocery store to the small town of Redgranite. It's family-owned, and they have served the community for the past 20 years. I feel very welcome every time I've walked into the store, and the workers are very kind and helpful. I am happy to have a quality local grocery store and encourage others to support it as well.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. Where is all of the groceries? They litterally did not have one thing that was on my list or it was expired. Simple things such as butter, baked bean, mayo? Every single time I stoo. I will not even waate my time. I asked if they were closing and was told no. Heard this poor excuse of a store went down hill due to a gambling problem....and not being able to pay vendors......sad
Maybe they need to consider selling to aldi brand. At least the town would have reasonable priced food and food they could count on being on the shelves. Keep the shelves stocked and the products good or people look for food elsewhere. If you had this people would not be flocking by the numbers to other towns to shop. What really isn't fair is that many people in this town don't have the easy option or ability to get to Berlin or Wautoma to shop so they are stuck with fewer choices, less value and less quality. We also have fewer jobs for our teens because they don't need workers if there is no business to be had. Our little town needs food. Not bottles of alcohol. And we would like fresh food, not expired or broken food. Keep it good and we'll keep it local.
I visited this small town grocery store this summer during a camping trip. I was able to find everything I needed with no problem. The manager, Dan, was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to finding certain items on the shelves. He always has a smile on his face and is ready and willing to make your shopping experience easy and effortless. Overall, I was very satisfied with my shopping experience here and would definitely stop in again!
The shelves are always empty and prices went up when it changed to Sentry. I go to Piggly Wiggly in Wautoma or Walmart in Berlin instead if I can.
